Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position at a Joint Commission accredited hospital in Wilson, NC, requiring a minimum of 1.5 years of ICU experience and the ability to work day shifts with float responsibilities.

Details

• Work in a 16-bed ICU unit with overflow to IMU and Telemetry floors at a 294-bed, Joint Commission accredited hospital
• Adult patient population with common diagnoses including COPD, acute respiratory failure (ARF), DKA, sepsis, and shock
• Patient ratios: ICU 2:1, IMU 3:1, Telemetry 1:5
• Day shift schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, 36 hours per week
• Every other or every third weekend required (12 hours)
• Floating required to IMU and Telemetry as overflow
• No on-call requirements
• Equipment includes cardiac monitors, Hill-Rom Progressive Care series beds with bed scale, Abbott Glucometer, EndoTool, Bair Hugger, TR band, Hotline 3 fluid warmer, Baxter IV pumps, and bedside dialysis capability
• EMR: Meditech (experience preferred)
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA-issued cards required)
• Minimum 1.5 years of ICU experience required
• Associate degree required; BSN preferred
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation required
• Experience with critical drips including vasopressors and sedation, including titration
• Strong critical thinking skills required
• Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
• Candidates must reside 60 or more miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate

Additional Information

• Provides critical care nursing to adult ICU patients, with potential overflow assignments to IMU and Telemetry
• Supervised by a Clinical Staff Lead or Charge Nurse
• Team-oriented, flexible, and adaptable personality is a strong fit for this unit
• Orientation is conducted on a bi-weekly schedule
• No artificial nails permitted; scrub color is not assigned
• Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
• Candidates who are currently employed full-time elsewhere are not eligible
• Located in Wilson, NC — approximately 45 miles east of Raleigh and within 2 hours of the NC coast
