1. Perform duties as planned under the leadership of the Preschool Director
2. Assist in the screening and preparation of children to fully participate in program services
3. Interact with the children in a way which conveys respect and nurturing
4. Support the social and emotional development of children
5. Play with children
6. Provide activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving appropriate to the development levels of the children
7. Maintain daily attendance records of children participating in the Preschool Program
8. Attend to the personal hygiene of each child in your care, including changing diapers or soiled clothing and washing hands
9. Maintain a safe environment based on safety standards set by the program
10. Assist in preparing food for children and serve meals and refreshments to children and regulate rest periods
11. Assist in the cleaning and straightening of the child care rooms at the end of the day, as well as putting away any outside equipment
12. Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating and contributing information on a continuous basis
13. Maintain open, friendly, and cooperative relationship with each child’s family and encourage their involvement in the program
14. Continue professional development through attending workshops, conferences and other staff development
15. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible
16. Lift children, move furniture in an early childhood classroom, and sustain long hours of active work
17. Support children's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts
18. Sanitize toys and play equipment
19. Discipline children and recommend or initiate other measures to control behavior, such as caring for own clothing and picking up toys and books
20. Observe and monitor children's play activities
21. Keep records on individual children, including daily observations and information about activities, meals served, and medications administered
22. Instruct children in health and personal habits such as eating, resting, and toilet habits
23. Read to children and teach them simple painting, drawing, handicrafts, and songs
24. Organize and participate in recreational activities, such as games
25. Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas
