Accounting Assistant

Description We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to join our team in Carrboro, North Carolina. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and a passion for supporting financial operations. As a long-term contract role, you will play a key part in maintaining the accuracy and efficiency of accounting processes. Responsibilities: - Manage front desk tasks, ensuring smooth daily operations and clear communication. - Process purchase cards (p-cards), verifying compliance with organizational policies. - Record journal entries with precision to maintain accurate financial records. - Upload accounts payable (AP) batches into the bank system, ensuring timely processing. - Perform bank reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies. - Review p-card transactions to confirm adherence to town policies and guidelines. - Support the coding and processing of invoices to facilitate accurate payments. - Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with accounting standards and procedures. - Assist in maintaining organized financial documentation for audits and reporting purposes. Requirements - Proven experience in accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes. - Proficiency in performing bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies. - Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks. - Strong ability to code and process invoices accurately. - Excellent organizational and time management skills. - High level of attention to detail and accuracy in financial tasks. - Effective communication skills for interacting with team members and stakeholders.
