Role Overview Our client is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team in Charlotte, NC. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to build on their experience in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the month-end close process, balance sheet reconciliations, and continuous improvement initiatives while supporting the overall accounting function. Key Responsibilities Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting Prepare and record journal entries, accruals, and other month-end adjustments Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate/resolution of reconciling items Analyze account activity and investigate variances to ensure accuracy of financial results Maintain general ledger accounts and support the integrity of financial data Assist with documenting and improving accounting processes to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls Support audit requests and provide documentation for internal and external audits Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues and improve workflows Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal procedures Participate in special projects and other accounting-related responsibilities as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 1-3 years of accounting experience preferred Experience supporting month-end close and preparing journal entries Strong understanding of balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger accounting Familiarity with U.S. GAAP principles Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ERP experience is a plus Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment CPA designation or progress toward certification is a plus Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
