Position Overview

The Mecklenburg County Council is one of the top performing Council’s in the Carolinas. We are known for a lively place to live, pro sports, NASCAR, arts & culture, and the proximity to the beautiful mountains and beach. We are looking for the right person for a growing area to serve a solid district, which currently has FOS and membership growth.

The District Director serves as manager and operating officer of the district and is responsible for the effective organization, operation, and promotion of the council program within the district. The position may supervise others and is responsible for achieving measurable goals within the district and Council.

Responsibilities

• Works with and supports the District Nominating Committee, recruits, develops, and maintains effective volunteer management teams.
• Maintains a professional working climate that attracts, retains, and motivates top-quality volunteers.
• Assures the district achieves its mission and makes consistent progress.
• Assures that the flow of funds from the district helps the council to achieve its mission.
• Provides leadership and training to other staff in the council.
• Position will have key council assignments for professional growth and development.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (transcript with the date degree conferred stated is required for employment).

Qualifications

• Ability to supervise staff utilizing effective back-dating and work scheduling.
• Proven FOS success and skills in community organization. Individuals should understand the process to identify potential upper-level prospects and have the skill set to work with and support Council Board members to approach potential prospects.
• Effective in managing membership and new unit organization to achieve growth consistently, with attention to retention of units and youth.
• Ability to manage functioning districts at a high level of operation and effectively utilize the annual nominating committee process.
• Prior experience as a District Executive or Senior District Executive is preferred.
• Well organized, detail oriented and polished staff leadership skills.
• Excellent analytic skills with a proven commitment to accuracy and timeliness.
• Must be able to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
• Must possess a focus on continuous improvement and growth, both within the organization and with self.
• A flexible schedule is frequently required for evening/weekend events.
• Team player, positive attitude, and willing to learn.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured.
• Seeking an individual who is professional in dress, well-spoken, and comfortable in social and networking settings.
• Strong interpersonal, written communication, and verbal presentation skills.
