Skills and Competencies

  • 3–5 years of experience in at least one modern object-oriented programming language such as Java, Spring, or Angular
  • Hands-on experience designing, building, and operating microservices, REST APIs, and GraphQL-based services
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, including scalability, performance, reliability, and fault tolerance principles
  • Experience with cloud-native technologies, preferably Amazon Web Services, including Docker and Kubernetes
  • Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices including testing, code reviews, observability, and secure development
  • Proactive and collaborative mindset with a strong passion for continuous learning and solving complex technical challenges
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence technologies and large language models is preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Proven ability to implement AI-powered solutions to solve business challenges. Demonstrates a growing awareness of AI risk management and a commitment to responsible and ethical AI use.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

Responsibilities

Design and deliver scalable cloud-native applications and platform services that support critical business capabilities and innovation.

  • Design, develop, and operate critical backend services, application programming interfaces, and data processing systems
  • Write clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code using Java, Spring, and REST API technologies
  • Solve complex technical challenges related to distributed systems, concurrency, scalability, and performance
  • Collaborate with product managers and engineers to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions
  • Participate in architecture discussions and code reviews to continuously improve engineering quality and standards
  • Own the full software development lifecycle including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational support
  • Identify opportunities to improve platform architecture and recommend practical, scalable solutions
  • Promote engineering best practices for scalability, reliability, security, observability, and operational excellence

About the Team

Our Ratings Technology team is responsible for building applications and foundational services that support critical business functions across commercial and billing lines of business. By joining our team, you will contribute to high-impact work focused on scalability, reliability, and high-quality software delivery while collaborating on innovative solutions that integrate large language models and artificial intelligence technologies to enhance products and business outcomes.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $95,500.00 - $138,550.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
