Position Title : Grounds Crew

Reports to: Superintendent of Golf Maintenance

Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent, the Grounds Crew member is responsible for maintaining the golf course and performing semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance tasks. This role involves operating small hand-powered equipment, as well as repairing and providing preventive maintenance for all equipment. The Grounds Crew may be assigned to care for specific holes on the golf course and will perform related duties as required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Operate mowers and string trimmers to maintain greens, aprons, tees, and other areas, including edging cart paths and raking sand traps.
• Set tee markers and cups on greens daily, maintain ball washers, replace tee towels and flags as needed, and remove debris. Sand and seed tee and drop area divots, and clean flower beds and natural areas.
• Daily maintenance of fuel and fluid levels for all equipment; report any equipment issues to the mechanic or management promptly.
• Return all equipment to designated locations and clean maintenance areas, including wash pads.
• Help with construction projects for new greens, tees, and fairways, including soil preparation, sod installation, and seeding.
• Use hand tools for excavation and backfilling of ditches and trenches.
• Repair greens using seed or plugs as needed.
• Operate utility vehicles on the course and road.
• May operate mowers, dump trucks, or other light equipment as required.
• Service all maintenance equipment, inspect for deficiencies, and maintain repair records.
• Establish and uphold safety procedures, maintaining records for equipment use.
• Perform general overhauls and preventive maintenance on all equipment.
• Maintain an inventory of common maintenance and repair parts.
• Conduct emergency repairs as needed outside the shop.
• Report any equipment needs or problems to the supervisor.
• Perform other tasks as directed by the supervisor.

Knowledge Skills & Experience

• Familiarity with golf terminology
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Knowledge of resort operations with the ability to address member inquiries
• Valid driver’s license
