About the Position

Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 18 months Med/Tele RN experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Basic Med/Tele skillset, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management. Description: This facility has 241 licensed beds and a Level 3 Trauma designation. It is a teaching hospital and a certified chest pain center. The unit information includes 32 beds with an average census of 28 patients. Patient types and common diagnoses include total joint replacements, colon resection, gallbladder surgery, appendectomy, amputations, medical overflow, hip fractures, and SBO. Patient ratios for nurses are 1:4-6 during the day and 1:5-6 at night. Support within the department includes CNAs for vital signs, baths, mobility, turning, and blood sugars. There are also receptionists/health unit coordinators for rounding and secretarial duties. The charge nurse serves as a resource to assist with all nursing care. Phlebotomy is available, independent of nurse draws. Additionally, there is a respiratory therapist available 24/7. Hospitalists and intensivists are also present around the clock. Telemetry monitoring is provided with the help of a technician. Technology used includes an electronic medical record system and IV pumps. The facility requires every other weekend rotation, with no call obligations. Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off may be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays. Shift times are from 0645 to 1900 and 1845 to 0700. The schedule follows a six-week cycle. Scrub color required is navy.
