Structured Cable Technician
This is a remote role based in North Carolina or South Carolina.
We invite you to join Thrive Restaurant Group! As the Structured Cabling Technician, you'll be instrumental in ensuring the reliable connectivity of all our new and existing restaurants. You'll make a difference by loving people through the expert installation, maintenance, and documentation of the low-voltage cabling systems that power our operations, providing our teams with the stable technology they need to succeed.
This role is highly focused on accuracy, quality, and technical detail. If you are an independent self-starter who thrives on hands-on work and traveling to new sites, we’d love to hear from you!
What Matters Most
Ensure the physical foundation of our technology is flawless. This role is about installing, maintaining, and documenting the low-voltage cabling infrastructure with expert precision, providing every restaurant with the reliable, high-quality connectivity it needs to operate. Success means clean work, complete documentation, and zero technical friction caused by wiring.
Who This Role Serves
You will serve restaurant teams and managers who rely on stable systems, the IT team that manages the network, the Construction team that relies on timely installation, and the Facilities team that needs accurate documentation for long-term maintenance.
What You'll Do
You will report to IT Leadership and be responsible for the smooth, efficient, and high-quality cabling infrastructure across the organization. Your key activities include:
New Restaurant Installation & Execution (40%):
Install, terminate, and test all low-voltage cabling (Cat6/6a) for data, voice, cameras, sound systems, and alarms.
Coordinate effectively with general contractors, IT, and facilities to align work with project timelines.
Ensure all cabling is appropriately labeled, terminated, and fully tested before restaurant opening.
Mount and install IP cameras, speakers, TVs, wireless access points, and network switches, verifying full connectivity and functionality.
Cabling Remediation & Optimization (20%):
Audit and re-terminate existing network racks and cabling to reduce performance issues and improve organizational standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve on-site network or connectivity issues in collaboration with IT support.
Ensure all remediation work adheres to company standards for quality, labeling, and documentation.
Quality, Safety & Documentation (10%):
Label all cables and components clearly for easy maintenance and future troubleshooting.
Create accurate "as-built" diagrams and project documentation for every completed site.
Ensure compliance with EIA/TIA industry standards, local building codes, and Thrive’s internal installation procedures.
Follow all safety protocols when working on ladders, lifts, or in confined spaces.
General Facilities & Technical Support (15%):
Perform light electrical rough-ins connected to low-voltage systems.
Assist with basic handyman or maintenance duties when not engaged in dedicated cabling projects.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment that reflects professionalism and technical discipline.
What You Bring to the Role
Be independent. Be precise. Be the answer. This role demands a high level of self-management, quality control, and technical accuracy.
BICSI certification or relevant experience preferred.
A successful candidate for this role is expected to:
Be Independent - Take ownership of on-site work and make sound decisions with minimal supervision.
Be Precise - Deliver clean, professional installations with complete documentation.
Manage Time Effectively - Balance multiple projects and travel requirements while meeting deadlines.
