IT Director
Job Description
Job Description
Director of Information Technology
The Director of Information Technology will serve as Warren Oil's senior technology owner, responsible for the company's IT operations, vendor governance, infrastructure, and enterprise systems. This individual will report directly to the CFO, supported by an interim fractional CIO, and will operate at the intersection of technology delivery and business outcomes that align with and promote business needs.
This role is not a primary hands-on technical contributor but will be expected to have strong technical acumen and contribute to occasional tactical technical needs. The Director will primarily drive value through external managed service providers, technology vendors, and limited internal resources. Success in this role is measured by vendor performance, project delivery, system reliability, and the ability to translate technology investments into quantifiable business value for leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Vendor Governance and Managed Services
- Own the Warren Oil relationship with managed IT service providers covering an array of services, including, but not limited to, service desk, field tech support, and infrastructure operations across the branch network.
- Define and enforce SLAs, escalation paths, and performance expectations with external partners.
- Serve as the primary point of accountability for day-to-day IT service delivery across 100+ locations.
- Evaluate vendor performance and drive continuous improvement in cost efficiency and service quality.
- Serve as the technical liaison for IT diligence related to acquisitions and divestiture activities.
Enterprise Platform and ERP Program Ownership
- Own Warren Oil's enterprise platform evaluation and selection process, including a multi-tier architecture assessment that balances operational and financial systems
- Lead vendor selection, contracting, and implementation oversight in partnership with internal resources and external implementation partners
- Ensure platform initiatives are delivered on scope, on schedule, and within budget, with clear executive visibility at every phase.
- Manage the transition from current platforms, including data migration, user readiness, and go-live support.
Technology Roadmap and Cloud Modernization
- Own and execute a practical, cost-conscious IT roadmap aligned to the direction set by executive leadership and Warren Oil's growth trajectory.
- Evaluate on-premises systems for migration candidacy and execute a phased approach to cloud transition that minimizes disruption and manages risk across a distributed branch environment.
Support the development and communication of technology investment cases, translating technical requirements into business impact and ROI for executive review.
- Identify and flag technology needs resulting from acquisitions, new locations, and organic growth, ensuring the IT architecture scales without proportional increases in overhead.
- Provide a grounded technology perspective to executive leadership when called upon, without overcomplicating decisions or oversizing solutions .
IT Infrastructure and Security
- Maintain ownership of Warren Oil's infrastructure, network, endpoint, and security posture across a distributed, mixed-environment landscape.
- Drive rationalization of on-premises infrastructure toward cloud-hosted and SaaS alternatives where transitions are prudent, with a clear assessment framework for each legacy system
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Own vendor relationships for cybersecurity, connectivity, and cloud services
Team and Resource Leadership
- Manage a lean internal team and operate effectively in a resource-constrained environment, where external partners execute, and internal leadership assumes accountability.
- Build organizational capability over time by identifying where internal headcount adds value and where outsourcing is the right model.
Why You'll Love Warren Oil:
- Be part of a growing, family- and teammate-owned company with a strong culture of collaboration.
- Work on projects that have real business impact and visibility to senior leadership.
- Opportunities for professional growth, mentorship, and skill development.
- Competitive benefits, including healthcare, 401(k) match, and a supportive work environment.
