Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15) Experience: Minimum of 2 years, preferred 3 years License: Active RN License Certifications: BCLS, AWHONN Intermediate, NRP Must-Have: Experience with over 300 births per month Ability to handle double labor assignments Experience in high-volume, fast-paced settings Description: RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly result in a cancellation and DNR. This unit is known to be difficult and fast-paced. Daily assignments may involve handling double labor situations. Nurses must possess the ability to circulate, perform sterile vaginal exams, and provide immediate newborn care. The unit will accept first-time travelers but they should have experience in a large, high-volume setting. Ratios will be 2:1, with an average of 20 births in 24 hours and 30-40 admissions per day. There will be a minimum weekend requirement of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule. Patients cared for include obstetrical patients 16 weeks and greater for all intrapartum, high-risk antepartum, and postpartum care. The unit operates an obstetrical triage unit for screening patients prior to admission. Scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births and rescue cervical cerclage procedures are performed on this unit. It is important for nurses to have experience circulating in the OR. The daily census ranges from 400 to 600, with around 40 visits per day and 20 rooms available. Interdisciplinary support includes services such as physical therapy, rapid response teams, and pharmacy. This unit requires a strong ability to manage high acuity and busy situations. Candidates must be willing to float as needed, with an openness to floating within the women’s unit. All testing must be completed within 48 hours after signing, including lab tests. Floating is required as needed, and candidates must be open to this. References can be pending at submission. Modules are required, which are non-billable. All RTO must be pre-approved.
