Marbles Kids Museum is a vibrant, nonprofit children’s museum and IMAX Theatre located in the heart of downtown Raleigh. Marbles has been sparking imagination, discovery, and learning through play since opening its doors in 2007. Marbles’ serves a diverse population of families, school groups, and community organizations through award-winning play-based exhibits, summer camps, IMAX documentaries, feature movies, and special events year-round. Today Marbles ranks among the top family destinations in North Carolina providing learning experiences for children with creative programs, and larger-than-life movies.

The Opportunity

Are you passionate about informal education and creating hands-on learning experiences beyond the classroom? Marbles is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Learning Engagement Host to lead engaging, play-based programming that inspires young learners to learn through play. In this role, you’ll bring learning to life on the museum floor by facilitating a wide variety of exciting programs throughout the year, like Ready, Set, School, Artrageous, and Outdoor Explorers. You’ll also support special Guest Stars as they share their talents with kids and families and so much more! If you thrive in a kid-centric, high-energy environment, we’d love to meet you.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Deliver facilitated hands-on, play-based learning programs to museum guests and early childhood program participants.
• Set up, break down, and prepare program materials.
• Collect informal data, such as counting participants during programming.
• Provide exceptional, proactive customer service by initiating and engaging in interactions with museum guests.
• Share information with guests about the play-based learning experiences that Marbles offers.
• Support and serve as the main point of contact for guest stars throughout their appearance as needed.
• Perform all other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Ideal Experience and Skill Requirements

• 1 year of customer service experience, particularly with families and young children (preferred).
• Demonstrated ability to lead informal educational programs for children in a museum, camp, or similar setting.
• Museum, preschool, or equivalent experience is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Fluency in written and spoken Spanish is a plus

Physical Demands

• Walking, standing, stooping, bending, and reaching.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

• Exposure to a noisy and crowded atmosphere.
• May need to walk between two buildings with some outdoor exposure.

Schedule

• Must be available to work Sundays from 9:30AM-5:30PM.
• Flexible schedule required, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
