Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: RN License required Certifications: None required; CCRN recommended Must-Have: Titration of vesicant medications Familiarity with pressors Sedation and paralytics experience Experience with ventilators and tracheostomies Telemetry interpretation skills Understanding of hemodynamics and PA catheter setup and interpretation Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a progressive care unit. The unit comprises 16 beds with a patient ratio of 1:1 or 2:1, occasionally 3:1 based on acuity. Only registered nurses work in this unit, with no health unit coordinators or patient care technicians. The equipment available in the unit includes ventilators, telemetry, Baxter IV pumps, IABP, CRRT, and Impella. Documentation is conducted through a specific electronic health record system. Scheduling requires 36 hours per week, with alternating weekends and 12-hour shifts. Traveling nurses may float to all areas within the facility. ICU experience is mandatory for this role. The desired skill set includes advanced practices such as IABP, Impella, and CRRT. Performing procedures such as cardioversion, central line insertion, EGD, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, pericardiocentesis, and thoracentesis is part of the role. The required uniform consists of navy blue or navy and white scrubs, and pullovers or hoodies are not permitted. Staff awards or recognitions may be available to provide insight into departmental excellence and team achievements.
