Grounds Team Leader

PURPOSE:

The Grounds Team Leader oversees and works alongside the Grounds Team to ensure Brookstone’s properties are maintained to the highest standards. This role is both supervisory and hands-on, requiring strong leadership, technical landscaping skills, and clear communication with the Facilities Manager and Executive Pastor of Operations. The Grounds Team Leader ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, with excellence all in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of landscaping techniques, plants, and equipment
• Ability to lead by example and work effectively within a team
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Effective time management and ability to follow schedules
• Ability to safely tow open and enclosed trailers up to 30 feet in length
• Comfortable using tools such as Basecamp, Planning Center, and Gmail for
• communication and task management
• Valid driver’s license

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead, supervise, and motivate the grounds team
• Ensure campus is maintained with excellence, always looking in tip-top shape
• Plan, assign, and oversee daily tasks and schedules
• Perform hands-on landscaping duties including mowing, trimming, fertilizing, spraying, planting, and hardscape installation
• Ensure all work meets Brookstone’s quality and safety standards
• Train new team members on proper techniques, safety procedures, and equipment use
• Monitor job progress and adjust plans to meet deadlines and priorities and when necessary make changes based off of weather forecasts.
• Ensure safe operation, proper use, and routine maintenance of all equipment and tools
• Develop and follow preventative maintenance schedules for landscaping equipment
• Enforce safety policies and promote a safe work environment
• Communicate job status, issues, and material needs to management
• Interact professionally with other Brookstone staff and respond to basic questions or concerns
• Perform snow removal and apply salt to church entries, parking lots, and sidewalks as needed
• Assist the facilities team with special events as required
• Plan and prepare for future landscaping projects to enhance and care for Brookstone properties
• Ensure our campus is consistently and continually maintained with excellence

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to traverse variety of terrain (mountainside, creek, etc…)
• Must be physically able to lift, carry and move materials and equipment.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical labor for extended periods of time.
• Willing to work outside in a variety of seasons with the potential for inclement weather.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Grounds Team Leader reports to the Facilities Manager and the Executive Pastor of Operations and Outreach.

OVERSIGHT:

The Grounds Team Leader will directly recruit and teams and provide oversight to volunteer

HOURS:

Monday-Friday (hours flexible depending upon season)

SALARY:

A competitive salary wage commensurate with experience will be provided.
