Substation Project Manager

Siemens Energy
Raleigh, NC

Snapshot of Your Day

You’ll oversee multiple substation projects as the main point of contact for customers and stakeholders, ensuring timelines, budgets, and customer expectations are met. Your day centers on guiding projects from handover through construction close‑out while managing planning, forecasting, risk, and change activities.

You’ll own full P&L accountability, drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and minimizing non‑conformance costs, and work closely with global and local teams as you deepen your knowledge of AIS, GIS, and substation solutions.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Serve as the primary customer and stakeholder point of contact across multiple substation projects.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring schedule adherence, customer satisfaction, and financial performance.
  • Lead core project management activities, including scheduling, budgeting, risk and change management, opportunity assessment, and forecasting.
  • Oversee all phases of project execution from handover through construction completion.
  • Maintain full profit and loss (P&L) responsibility while capturing lessons learned and reducing non‑conformance costs (NCCs).
  • Collaborate daily with global and local teams while continuously building expertise in AIS, GIS, and substation products.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or management or related field, with a minimum of 5 years in substations, preferably in project management.
  • Substation experience, including but not limited to: AIS, transformers, breakers, MV/HV gas‑insulated switchgear, and balance‑of‑plant (BOP) equipment.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, team-building, and customer‑facing skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in process improvement, quality management, and working with global teams.
  • Project Management certifications preferred (e.g., PMP, IPMA).
  • Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and on occasion internationally.
  • If not already local to Raleigh, NC, the selected candidate must be willing to relocate (relocation assistance provided)
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer‑sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with existing US visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfer.

Your Opportunities for Personal Growth

  • Work within a diverse Substations team with a wide range of skills and backgrounds, enhancing both your technical and professional development.
  • Leverage the deep expertise of the Substation team as a powerful source of learning and career advancement.
  • Strengthen your coaching and leadership skills through collaborative team environments.
  • Gain exposure to a highly diverse, multicultural work environment with international collaboration across Germany, Canada, and colleagues of many nationalities.
