Director, Engineering - Capital Projects
- Director Global Engineering Solutions Projects is responsible for leading the Delivery of a large Capital Program (~$1B).-Guide the team to carefully plan, identify risks and mitigation strategies, track and monitor progress, escalate risks and cascade information. -Align a cross-functional team around the project mission/work plan. -Interface and align with key Service Providers of Engineering, Procurement, Equipment, Construction Management and Commissioning/Qualification services. -Initial assignment is as described above, but future roles and responsibilities are dependent upon future project workload and locations. - Primary activities include, but are not limited to:
- Manage funding review process-to include:
- Review or approve funding-packages for projects, participate in Stage Setting and Commitment
- Reviews for large regional projects. Input-to and participate in cross regional resource planning-and workload projection
- Develop Project Team metrics that are linked to strategy and business results including risk and rewards programs with Tier 1 suppliers.
- Establish performance management objectives for the project in line with departmental, plant and-divisional/franchise objectives
- Manage and mentor direct reports
- Develop close working relationships with Plant Manager(s), key stakeholders and Staff-within region.
- As a member of the Project Leadership Team, perform share of administrative functions (Tier Meetings, Safety/Staff Meetings, key stakeholder relationship management) to ensure department and GES are delivering on business needs and addressing development of our staff
- Visible safety leader on project safety walks and peer safety reviews promoting a zero harm and zero incident safety culture.-
- Review and approve Construction and Process Safety Incident Investigations, challenging root cause and confirming effective corrective and preventative actions.
- Broad knowledge of bioprocess and Infrastructure projects and requirements.
- Experience and demonstrated working relationship with our operations and Builders groups.
- Knowledge of Current industry trends and issues
- Knowledge of and demonstrated application of Lean Project Delivery Engineering Best Practices Capital Management process expertise is critical as the program must use these methods to succeed.
- Risk management planning and mitigation.
- Managing/ implementing commissioning, qualification, contract administration and project close-out.
- Bachelor's required, concentrations in Engineering or applicable scientific or business discipline preferred.
- > 10 years formal engineering work experience required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and proven project management excellence demonstrated over multiple assignments.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills along with the ability to deliver project status and funding presentations in a concise, effective, and organized manner.
- Knowledge of Pharmaceutical product development and manufacturing facilities (drug substance, drug product), plant operations, clean utilities and maintenance (inclusive of waste treatment) are highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large projects and large project programs.
- Demonstrated leadership skills necessary to build and maintain a high performing group of technical professionals.
- An understanding of GMP and regulatory qualification requirements and expectations

- The ability to travel 50%
- Experience in Lean Project Delivery Methodologies (i.e. target value design, off-site fabrication, pull planning scheduling tools) considered a plus.
- Familiarity with conducting project activity within operating facilities & planning for work to occur during shutdowns

$173,200.00 - $272,600.00 This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs. The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
