PRINICIPAL SOFTWARE ENGINEER
: The Role

Fidelity Center for Applied Technology (FCAT) is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to help build creative digital solutions and capabilities for our Plynk mobile app to ensure investing is inclusive for all audiences by removing barriers that prevent participation. We are redefining the financial services industry by changing the way we work and being customer obsessed! As the innovation engine for Fidelity Investments, we provide expertise to the rest of the firm on new tools and techniques, while also incubating potential new lines of business.
The Expertise You Have
- BS or above in Computer Science or related field
- Working experience in an Agile environment
- Knowledge of financial services brokerage operations, services and technology systems preferred
- Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of software development experience or Master's degree in Computer Science with 8+ years of experience in software application design & development; mobile development
- Rapidly develop enterprise software based on requirement documents, prototypes, or verbal requirements
- Learn and adopt new concepts & technologies quickly and implement them effectively in projects
- Demonstrated technical leadership experience.
- Work across peer groups to resolve and understand complex technical/design issues.
The Skills You Bring
- DE designing, developing, and integrating Java Web services using Spring Boot and Spring Security according to Service Oriented and micro-services architecture; authenticating applications using OAuth/JWT, Open ID Connect, JSON Web Token and designing and implementing Single Sign-On (SSOs)
- Experience in designing and building high volume, low-latency, and concurrent Cloud-hosted API based applications
- Experience in designing/implementing zero trust applications to ensure proper authentication, authorization, and access controls using secure frameworks like SPIRE Agents, Envoy Proxy, and Open Policy Agents
- Experience with cloud computing environments (AWS), applications and tools
- Experience with iOS and Android development in a hybrid tech stack (Ionic/Capacitor/Cordova) Client-Side development - Angular, NgRx, CSS, HTML
- Experience with document-based databases like MongoDB and relational databases like MariaDB and/or other relational/non relational database environments
- Experience with ETL strategies, design, and development
- Implementing Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for Web services using Jenkins and Concourse deploying applications in a DevOps environment
- In-depth knowledge secure coding standards and practices
- Code Quality/Coverage Tools (Sonar or equivalent) Test/Automation (Jest, Cypress, Cucumber, or any similar framework)
- Strong collaboration skills to work with multiple teams across the organization
- Knowledge of cloud-native applications on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. Certifications a plus
- Experience with logging and monitoring tools; DataDog, Splunk, etc. for analysis, observability, and alerting

Fidelity's working model blends the best of working offsite with maximizing time together in person to meet associate and business needs. Currently, most hybrid roles require associates to work onsite all business days of one assigned week per four-week period (beginning in September 2024, the requirement will be two full assigned weeks).
