MICU RN Job Details

• Location: Hickory, NC 28601 (North Carolina healthcare jobs)
• Unit: Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
• Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse
• Shift: 12-Hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Weekly Hours: 36 (rotating weekends)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 09/15/2025 – End: 12/15/2025)
• Facility Size: 8-bed MICU in a 355-bed hospital
• Patient Ratio: 2:1
• Electronic Health Record: Cerner
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,680 - $1,730 per week

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or compact state (Registered Nurse jobs NC)
• Minimum 6 years of recent MICU/critical care nursing experience
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIH Stroke Certification
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher
• Experience as a preceptor and charge nurse
• Proficiency with CRRT, transvenous pacing, and advanced monitoring equipment
• Must reside at least 60 miles from Hickory, NC to qualify as a travel nurse

MICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-acuity critical care to adult and geriatric patients in the MICU
• Manage complex cases such as acute renal failure and sepsis
• Operate and monitor CRRT, ventilators, Aquadex, transvenous pacing, and other advanced clinical equipment
• Serve as a preceptor and charge nurse as needed
• Float to other hospital units based on facility needs
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to advocate for patients and families
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Cerner EHR
• Uphold high standards of patient safety and quality care in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
