Job Summary
The Shop Operator is responsible for performing moderately complex shop operations under general supervision to support equipment maintenance, repair, testing, and operational readiness. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and productive work environment while ensuring equipment meets quality and operational standards.
Job Description
- Perform moderately complex shop operations and processes under general supervision.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain equipment according to company procedures and quality standards.
- Operate testing equipment and verify equipment meets established testing criteria.
- Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
- Use computers to access information, complete documentation, and communicate work activities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Proactively identify and address unsafe conditions or behaviors while promoting a strong safety culture.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while effectively managing assigned tasks.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with coworkers, supervisors, and customers.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality to support operational requirements.
- Support additional shop activities and operational needs as assigned.
- Shift: 7:00PM - 7:00AM Night Shift position. 11 days on / 3 days off (every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
S kills Required
- Ability to complete required documentation accurately.
- Experience repairing mechanical equipment or demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Understanding of testing equipment and inspection criteria.
- Working knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
- Basic computer skills, including data entry and communication.
- Ability to work independently in a shop environment.
- Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds continuously.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Climb ladders, stairs, ramps, and scaffolding.
- Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and squat frequently.
- Reach, grasp, push, pull, lift, and carry equipment and materials.
- Perform repetitive hand, wrist, and finger movements, including computer use and equipment operation.
- Maintain balance while working on uneven or slippery surfaces.
- Perform detailed visual inspections of equipment and components.
- Safely operate motor vehicles when required.
- Communicate effectively in person and receive detailed verbal instructions.
Education
- Minimum: High school diploma or GED
Pay Rate
- $20 - $23 per hour (Compensation is offered based on experience, skills, and market factors)
- $3 Night Shift Differential
