- The ITS-EPA IV Managed Application, Infrastructure, Networking, Enterprise, and Security Services (MAINES) Program - Task 3 & special projects provide infrastructure support of EPA Unix, Windows, and VMware information systems on hardware located primarily in NC, DC, and Colorado, supplemental satellite data centers in multiple states, and tenants in Azure and AWS. The Systems Administrator will work as a technical resource and contributor in Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Monitoring, Vulnerability Mitigation, Patching, and Documentation in support of a dedicated mission focus and goal while ensuring design and implementation of tasks is within EPA policy and facilitates achieving contract deliverables.
- Work with other technical resources supporting infrastructure with core Unix/Linux servers and some Windows servers
- Read, modify, write, and debug scripts (shell, perl, python, etc.)
- Install, configure, patch RHEL and Windows on a variety of physical and virtual platforms
- Utilize Splunk for Log Review
- Perform daily monitoring of servers and maintenance as needed
- Authoring Requirements and Design Documents, Work Instructions, SOPs, etc.
- Attending Project Planning meetings
- Analyze, create, and develop technical documentation
- Provide direct support to customers and stakeholders, manage support requests
- Independently lead tasks and assignments
- Other duties as assigned
- 5 Years Experience supporting RHEL/CentOS systems
- 1 Years experience managing/leading projects or teams
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems patching and maintenance
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA6/7/8) Certification
- Intermediate ability with Satellite Server and Ansible Tower
- Proven Experience with Linux Hosting in AWS
- Experience in Vulnerability Mitigation / OS Hardening
- Creation and configuration of file systems (NFS/CIFS)
- Expert proficiency in Logical Volume Management
- Significant Experience with an Enterprise Monitoring/Ticketing System
- Demonstrated analytic problem-solving ability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Time management and organizational aptitude
- Ability to work independently
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE6/7/8)
- Microsoft Certifications (Current or expired)
- Familiarity with Powershell
- Familiar with Oracle ODA Infrastructure (Nodes and VMs)
- Experience with Terraform
- Tier 1 VMware Administration
- Resource in a NOC/SOC environment
- Prior Work on a Government Contract

The likely salary range for this position is $127,500 - $172,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
