Special Education Teacher, full time, long term substitute
Job Title: Special Education Teacher full time substitute starting December 22 2025 for approximately 12 to: Director of Student ServicesPurpose: Consistent with the Jamestown School Departments vision and mission the special education teacher is to work in partnership with parents students educators and external agencies to promote student achievement. The special education teacher also works to create safe healthy and supportive learning environments for all students and to assist students in succeeding academically socially and emotionally. The special education teacher plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for students with disabilities in a variety of educational settings. The person in this position is responsible for creating a flexible program and learning environment that provides specialized instruction for students with disabilities such that the students benefit from the general education curriculum to the greatest extent possible when supported with supplemental aides accommodations and other needed : to the policies of the Jamestown School to all District Federal and State policies procedures and regulations for IDEA & ADA and completion of all relevant high and clear current research-based best instructional practices and strategies to help students access the direct instruction in ELA math social-emotional and behavioral development based on students IEP goals for identified students (Grade levels as assigned by Director of Student Services and Principal.) each student on case load with a high quality rigorous instruction aligned to the Common Core and National Standards in accordance with each students IEP. participate in all required referral eligibility and IEP team meetings for all new referrals to special education and students on your case instruction using a Multi-Sensory reading program and/or established researched-based program to identified participate and contribute as a member of the Response to Intervention general education staff with the implementation of accommodations and/or to establish effective relationships with and implement or assist classroom teachers in implementing behavior plans in collaboration with other service providers for targeted students. record and analyze academic and behavioral data to document progress and to make educational implement Jamestowns grade level curricula and assessments with fidelity setting high standards and expectations for the academic growth of every frequent feedback to the regular education teacher and other staff members on best practices and individualized instruction for identified with general and special education staff on effective modifications and accommodations for identified written progress reports to be presented to teachers parents and other staff members as effectively communicate with and establish positive relationships with parents community and with other staff and maintain accurate and up to date RTI special education and Medicaid records as in all professional development as determined by the Director of Student duties as assigned by SupervisorTo uphold Professional Code of Ethics as guided by the RI Educator Code of Professional Responsibility National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) & Council for Exceptional Children (CEC).
