Transportation Dispatcher

Accentuate Staffing is assisting a growing heavy equipment rental company who is hiring an experienced Transportation Dispatcher to join their team. This is a contract-hire opportunity that is a great foot in the door with the company. This is a great position for someone with a background in dispatching, trucking, hauling, or transportation logistics who is highly organized, customer-focused, and naturally thinks several steps ahead.

Responsibilities:

• Dispatch and coordinate company and outside truck drivers to ensure equipment is transported efficiently and on schedule.
• Schedule equipment hauls and coordinate pickups, deliveries, arrivals, and departures.
• Optimize routes and transportation schedules to minimize unnecessary mileage, downtime, and transportation costs.
• Maintain frequent communication with drivers regarding schedules, delays, job status, and changes.
• Provide professional and friendly customer service by responding promptly to phone calls, emails, questions, and scheduling concerns.
• Communicate schedule changes and delays to customers and internal teams.
• Utilize dispatching and transportation software to coordinate routes and maintain accurate records.
• Coordinate with outside hauling providers and assist with purchase orders, invoices, and transportation documentation.
• Help coordinate truck maintenance and schedule vehicles for service when needed.
• Research and resolve customer or transportation issues efficiently and communicate resolutions to the appropriate parties.
• Manage multiple transportation needs simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Support occasional after-hours transportation needs related to weather or other urgent situations.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in transportation dispatching, trucking, hauling, logistics, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of transportation scheduling, routing, and coordinating drivers.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills with a friendly, professional approach.
• Strong ability to communicate effectively by phone and email.
• Highly organized and able to manage multiple schedules and priorities at once.
• Forward-thinking problem solver who looks for ways to improve efficiency and maximize transportation resources.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to make quick, practical scheduling decisions.
• Comfortable working with computers and transportation/dispatch software; intermediate Microsoft Office skills preferred.
• High school diploma/GED with relevant experience or an associate degree with related experience.
