Veterinary Technician II
Accentuate Staffing is partnering with an innovative biotechnology organization who is hiring for a Veterinary Technician I. This is a direct hire opportunity, offering competitive compensation and benefits, working 100% onsite. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with large animal care, anesthesia and surgical support, and animal health monitoring in a regulated research environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily veterinary care and animal husbandry activities within a swine research facility.
- Assist with animal anesthesia, surgical procedures, and post-operative care.
- Monitor animal health, behavior, and welfare, including feeding and routine health assessments.
- Support research activities through accurate data collection and record keeping.
- Maintain and service medical and facility equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Ensure compliance with animal welfare regulations and established SOPs.
- Document treatments, procedures, and observations in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with veterinary and research staff to support ongoing transplant research initiatives.
Requirements:
- Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology, Animal Sciences, or a related field.
- 2+ years of large animal care and handling experience with an Associate’s degree or 1+ year with a Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience supporting anesthesia, medical procedures, or post-operative care preferred.
- Working knowledge of animal welfare regulations, including USDA, FDA, and DEA guidelines.
- Experience with facility and equipment maintenance and documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to meet physical demands, including lifting up to 75 lbs, carrying 50 lbs, and pushing/pulling 200 lbs on wheels.
- Must not have other interactions with pigs outside of employment.
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in Virginia preferred.
