Direct Support Professional-Team Lead

High school diploma field required; 2 years’ experience working with people with developmental and/or similar disabilities if degree is in related field or 3 years’ experience if degree is in an unrelated field. Knowledge of Behavioral Health Standards and funding sources required. The primary duties of this position are to supervise and coordinate activities that enrich the lives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities onsite and in the community. Physical Requirements
Must be able to operate a variety of automated office machines and other equipment (e.g., computers, copier, wheelchairs). Must be able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally and/or frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Physical demands are more than sedentary work; position requires walking, standing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, etc.

- Salary Range: 16 - 17 per hour
- Responsible for coordinating daily activities onsite and in the community for individuals with I/DD.
- Ensures coverage of direct support professional to program participant ratio.
- Assists in organizing daily activities and community outings for direct support professionals and individuals with I/DD.
- Provides support and guidance to direct support professionals as needed.
- Provides updates to Program Supervisor and Director of Clinical Services no less than daily.
- Supervises individuals with I/DD while onsite and in the community during activities, breaks, and lunch.
- Provides individual and group instruction to teach techniques and skills.
- Adapts materials and techniques to assist individuals with I/DD in meeting goals or completing tasks.
- Monitors performance of individuals with I/DD to ensure compliance with procedures and safety regulations and to note behavior deviations.
- Reassigns individuals with I/DD to simpler tasks when individual cannot perform assigned tasks, or to tasks containing higher degrees of complexity as level of competence is reached.
- Always supervises individuals with I/DD and ensures ample supervision in the community and onsite. Individuals with I/DD are always to be monitored.
- Will use behavior management techniques, which include verbal praise and gestures to reinforce positive behaviors. Ignore certain behaviors when appropriate.
- Refers issues concerning individuals with I/DD, including maladaptive behaviors, to appropriate Program Supervisor or other identified team members.
- Records and reports absences, incidences, accidents, and progress on individual goals and objectives.
- Provides first aid and solicit emergency care when necessary.
- Provides skill development during periods when no activity is planned.
- Assists individuals with personal care, whenever necessary.
- Responds as needed in emergency situations.
- Regularly attends staff meetings and required training sessions.
- Participates in team meetings when requested.
- Documents daily goal progress of individuals with I/DD on required forms and through data entry into electronic health record.
- Provides transportation as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
