Sales Tax Analyst

Our client is seeking a candidate to be able to jump in to help get back log caught up of exemption certificates and credit memos. This role is located within Charlotte metro, but remote options could be entertained. This is a contract need for up to 5 months with options to turn perm with great performance. Responsibilities

Core Priorities (Immediate Focus)

• Exemption Certificate Management: Maintain, manage, and audit exemption certificates. Review customer accounts to ensure valid certificates are properly applied before approving credit memos.

• Multi-State Compliance: Support multi-jurisdictional sales and use tax activities, with an immediate focus on clearing credit memo backlogs and resolving short-paid invoices across multiple states.

Additional Responsibilities

• Tax Administration: Log into state and vendor portals monthly to download and review tax notices, letters, and correspondence.

• Licensing & Filings: Assist with Secretary of State filings and business license renewals.

• Process Improvement: Assist with tax data cleanup, process optimization, and special tax-related projects.

• Documentation & Training: Help develop/update training manuals, participate in departmental training initiatives, and maintain organized electronic records in SharePoint.

• Team Collaboration: Partner with internal departments to ensure the accuracy of tax data and assist with month-end compliance activities as needed.
