Position Overview
The Process Lead at the Mocksville site is responsible for leading and managing the process technician team, ensuring optimal performance, continuous improvement, and operational excellence within the Technology department. This role is both strategic and “hands-on,” driving key initiatives in quality, productivity, and efficiency (Q1, FRY, PPU, OEE), and supporting the site’s growth and expansion. The Process Lead collaborates closely with cross-functional teams and global projects to achieve company safety, operational, and financial goals.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Management
- Manage the process technician team at the Mocksville site, including day-to-day oversight, guidance, task assignment, training, and performance control.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development within the team.
- Provide active “hands-on” support for activities dedicated to Q1, FRY, PPU, and OEE improvements.
Operational Excellence & Technology Initiatives
- Lead the technological aspects of both long- and short-term maintenance activities at Mocksville.
- Work closely with Process Engineers on New Product Introduction (NPI), validation, cost-saving, training, and operational excellence projects.
- Support global and local projects focused on achieving company safety, operational, and financial objectives.
Process & Quality Control
- Oversee and control the quality of HCs, belt cleaning, die cleaning, and other critical components to ensure achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs) at the Mocksville site.
- Ensure process control through setting, monitoring, optimization, and improvement activities.
- Manage and update the recipes database.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as a key member of the Mocksville site’s leadership team, contributing to site growth and expansion.
- Manage cross-functional communication with QA, Maintenance, Line Managers, and Operators within the area of responsibility.
- Coordinate site validation activities and support customer service and sales regional activities.
Training & Development
- Lead technical training for operational personnel, including line operators and shift supervisors at Mocksville.
- Support the development and delivery of training programs to enhance team capabilities.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead new product/resin qualifications and transition from development to production (NPI).
- Support R&D department activities, including trial performance and new equipment commissioning.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing/process environment with a strong demonstration in leadership.
- Strong understanding of process control, quality systems, and operational excellence methodologies.
- Proven ability to lead teams, implement process improvements, and drive results.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant manufacturing software.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Extrusion or other another polymer converting.
- Experience with NPI Spun melt, Meltblown, Fibers, Films, validation, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Familiarity with ISO standards, Lean 6S, and continuous improvement frameworks.
- Experience working with SAP & Quality window.
- Experience in technical training and team development.
Physical Demands
This role operates in both office and manufacturing environments at the Mocksville site. Requires frequent standing, walking, and occasional lifting (up to 40 pounds). Visual, auditory, and verbal communication abilities are essential.
Travel & Remote Work
Travel: Minimal; as required for training or project support.
Remote Work: Primarily on-site at Mocksville; remote work may be approved by exception for specific needs.
