The role is well-suited for a physician seeking a broad, clinically engaging practice with strong team support, procedural opportunities, and a sustainable workload.
Our Pulmonary and Critical Care division includes 28 physicians and 21 advanced practice providers who work collaboratively across inpatient critical care, pulmonary consultative services, outpatient pulmonary medicine, and eICU coverage. As a part of a multi-specialty ICU group, we cover traditional medical ICU patients, as well as cardiac, cardiothoracic, neuro-critical care, and neurosurgical critical care. The clinical scope includes the management of complex pulmonary and critical care patients, as well as procedures such as bronchoscopy, central venous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, thoracentesis, chest tube insertion, and other bedside procedures.
The typical full-time schedule is approximately 160 hours per month, spread across the inpatient ICU, pulmonary consultation, and outpatient clinic locations.

Additional responsibilities include accurate documentation and coding, adherence to compliance standards, and participation in administrative and quality-related activities within the practice.
This position reports to the Division Director and supports the mission, values, and strategic direction of WakeMed Physician Practices.
Ideal candidates will bring:
- Board certification or board eligibility in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine
- Strong clinical skills in both ICU and pulmonary medicine
- Interest in working within a collaborative, team-based practice model
- Commitment to quality, patient safety, teaching, and continuous improvement
