Basic Function: Development of microcontroller systems controller systems, including embedded Ethernet. Research, design, develop, and test the manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment, components, or systems as it relates to OCC product line.
Significant Responsibilities:
I. Performs specific job responsibilities:
• Develops copper product components for Category 5E/6/6A/8 structured cabling market.
• Performs RF simulations to evaluate performance of copper product prototypes.
• Validates simulations with test and measurement using VNA, S-parameters, TDR etc.
• Creates PCB layouts and board designs for manufacturability.
• Provides input on other Copper components include contact arrays and IDCs.
• Collaborates with mechanical engineers for electromechanical design.
• Architects cost efficient and design for manufacturability.
• Support products entry into manufacturing.
• Develops intellectual property and submits IP disclosures to Patent Attorney.
• Uses HFSS, Designer and other EM CAD methods to make the design process more efficient and effective.
• Interacts with relevant standards bodies such as TIA and IEEE to drive new and emerging technologies as they benefit OCCs goals of industry leadership.
• Design, implement, maintain, or improve electrical instruments, equipment, components, products, or systems that are compliant with industry standards.
• Support customer and R&D projects with a focus on materials and components for manufacturability.
• Develop, prepare and execute comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for complete systems and subsystems.
• Prepare detailed schematic designs and PCB layouts.
• End to end validation of fiber optic assemblies for high reliability electrical and communication systems.
• Led installation, splicing, and end to end validation of fiber optic assemblies for high reliability electrical and communication systems.

Job Scope:
• Management Responsibility: Supervisors the Test and Measurement Engineer
• Communication – Requires excellent communication between all departments and production
• Confidentiality – All documentation and paperwork is confidential to OCC
• Financial responsibility – None
• Judgment – Exercises appropriate judgment regarding various projects as assigned
• Compliance – Responsible for complying with internal pricing guides and all applicable laws and regulations,
including ISO and SOX.
• Travel – Minimal
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field and 5+ years’ experience.
Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge: Excellent computer skills required with familiarity and skill in software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel and HTML. RF simulation and optimization tools experience. Experience designing in an engineering environment and with PC based schematic capture and development software. Capable of RF tuning to meet performance specifications. Strong understanding of RF design principles and active and passive components. Must have S-parameter measurement and calibration techniques. Hands-on experience performing S-parameter measurements. Ability to solve problems quickly and completely. Ability to rapidly prototype new ideas and concepts. Ability to drive several projects to completion simultaneously with minimal supervising. Must have a strong understanding of filters, antennas, transmission lines and general RF hardware. Experience with networking protocols – TCP/IP. . Ability to plan, layout, and execute complex work programs, functions and operations, Data Center hardware (Cabinets, Cabling, Network and Server/Storage hardware) experience and thermal concept knowledge. Microchip pic32 microcontroller experience required. Experience with networking protocols – TCP/IP. Experience writing firmware drivers for embedded microcontrollers. Printed circuit development with schematics and component selection. Thermal management and energy efficiency using low power system development. Ability to understand and implement quality procedures. Ability to plan, layout, and execute complex work programs, functions and operations. Excellent math and handwriting skills required and the ability to correctly complete all paperwork. Excellent oral and written communication skills required with the demonstrated ability to express oneself clearly and concisely. Ability to work in a team environment and with minimal supervision. Pay close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately, and to recognize, record, and help resolve problems. Able to organize, complete tasks, and manage time.
Working Conditions: This is a partially sedentary job which requires a sighted individual (i.e., vision corrected to 20/20) for significant computer usage and reading. This work also requires an individual with normal hearing (i.e., hearing corrected to normal ranges) for extensive, direct and/or telephone contact with customers, management staff and employees. The nature of this work and constant personal interactions involved require that an individual possesses significant and persuasive interactive communications skills. Responsibilities call for nominal levels of physically demanding efforts characterized by walking and standing some of the day and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.
