The BorgWarner Arden campus offers two world class technical centers and a cutting-edge manufacturing facility that designs and produces turbos, fan, and fan drive components for the automotive industry. The Arden campus offers a multitude of career opportunities and is in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.
This position will machine components by operating various machines and equipment.
- Set up and operate various CNC machines.
- Set up and adjust fixtures, cutting tools, and make tooling offsets on machines.
- Utilize blueprint specifications or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece and setup requirements.
- Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications via first piece inspection, automated where applicable.
- Measure mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining as required.
- Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
- Use hand-help precision instruments to verify quality: CMM(s), Hommell, Profilometer, micrometers, calipers, and other gauge types.
- Adjust as necessary to maintain quality parts within control limits for SPC
- Interpret departmental automated measurement reports and confer with technical team members and leadership to resolve machining issues.
- Cleaning and organizing of work areas (5S standards).
- Read and understand internal procedures and policies.
- Manual recovery of in cell robotics, move to home position, etc.
- Transport material as required using proper handling methods.
- Keep work area in orderly condition with respect to proper materials, tools, equipment, and personal belongings. (Includes cleaning of equipment, floors, tables, etc.)
- Maintain quality standards by following proper inspection procedures.
- Understand and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Understand and adhere to current quality and control policies.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Completion of high school or equivalent.
- Experience in fast paced industrial environment.
- Requires one (1) year of experience as a Machinist I or equivalent experience. Completion of technical training in Machining or Mechanics preferred.
- Basic and advanced math skills (decimals, addition, subtraction, fractions. ratios, proportions) Geometry and trigonometry is a plus.
- Attendance on the job is essential.
- Must be able to work in a team environment.

This position will adhere to the BorgWarner Environmental Health and Safety Program by following all safety rules, procedures, practices, training, and safe use of equipment; this includes use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. This individual will work in a way that stresses the importance of preventing injury, accidents, or illnesses to themselves or co-workers by correcting or reporting unsafe situations, incidents, or occurrences to their Team Lead immediately.
