Orthopedic RN Job Details

• Location: Greenville, North Carolina (27834) – Eastern NC healthcare jobs
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel Nursing Contract)
• Unit: Orthopedic Nursing – 32-bed flex unit
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Hours per Week: 36
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks with potential extension
• Start Date: ASAP
• RN-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Weekend/Holiday Requirement: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule; 3 out of 4 holidays
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1910-$1960

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN Multi-State License (compact nursing license preferred for North Carolina nursing jobs)
• BLS Certification (AHA required)
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or orthopedic nursing setting
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records (EMR)
• Orthopedic nursing experience required
• Ability to work within an 80-mile radius requirement

Orthopedic RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care to individuals undergoing orthopedic and complex surgical procedures, including thoracotomies, amputations, weight loss surgery, total joint replacement, spinal surgery, orthopedic trauma, and abdominal surgeries
• Utilize advanced clinical nursing skills: skeletal, bucks, and cervical traction; arterial and central lines; IV starts; peripheral and arterial lab draws; and management of cardiac, insulin, and heparin intravenous drips
• Perform cardiac monitoring, lumbar drain assessments, wound vac dressing changes, and comprehensive wound management
• Care for patients with epidurals, tracheostomies, chest tubes, and surgical wound drains
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Document all patient care accurately using EPIC EMR system
