Description of Work
Salary Recruitment Range: $42,464 - $55,100 Salary Grade: NC11
This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workday. The NC Department of Insurance trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.

Primary Purpose of the Position:
This position analyzes, researches and pursues resolution of citizens written Life and Health insurance complaints, and provides telephone assistance to citizens who call with insurance-related questions and concerns. Position is also responsible, based on information from consumers, for identifying company, agent and industry issues and trends that may require closer regulatory review by the Department. Position requires knowledge and experience of life and health insurance products. The position also requires extensive verbal and written interaction with the general public and with regulated entities, including occasional public speaking opportunities, and possible participation in informal conferences and administrative hearings involving regulated entities. Excellent analytical, writing, and oral communication skills are essential. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
- Knowledge and experience with life and health insurance.
- Considerable knowledge of insurance principles and practices and North Carolina insurance laws and regulations.
- Considerable knowledge of insurance policies and coverages, legal processes, insurance-related court rulings, medical/health and automobile/damage terminology and costs.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree business or economics or a related program from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in insurance underwriting, claims, or policyholder service; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional Education and Experience:
- Must have knowledge and experience with life and health insurance.
