ONSITE Medical Billing/Coding Specialist

Location: Greensboro (near Buffalo Lake)

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm

Pay: $18-$21/depending on experience

100% ON-SITE!!! NO REMOTE OR HYBRID AVAILABILITY

Responsibilities

• Gather and research all information necessary to complete the billing process.
• Code information regarding procedures performed and diagnosis supporting charges.
• Assist in processing insurance claims, including Medicaid/Medicare claims.
• Process all insurance provider correspondence and insurance forms.
• Assist patients in completing necessary forms, including payment arrangements, and answer questions.
• Enter charge information into the EMR billing system.
• Follow up with insurance companies to ensure claims are paid/processed.
• Resubmit insurance claims that have received no response or are not on file.
• Work with other staff to follow up on accounts until a zero balance is achieved.
• Assist in error resolution and maintain required billing records, reports, and files.
• Research returned mail and handle a high volume of telephone calls, providing information as needed.
• Participate in regularly scheduled coverage of the Billing Department to assist visiting patients.
• Participate in educational activities and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as assigned and demonstrate current competencies applicable to the position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; CPC-A certification required.
• Minimum of one year of billing experience in a healthcare organization.
• Knowledge of billing practices, medical office policies, coding, medical terminology, and insurance industry.
• Skill in computer programs, spreadsheets, applications, and using a calculator.
• Ability to understand and interpret policies and regulations, and prepare documents in response to inquiries.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with others.
