Job Description
The Assembler builds high-quality products by using hand and power tools to position, align, and fasten parts into assemblies, subassemblies, or frames. This role installs wire labels and device tags, follows detailed job orders, and uses an ERP system to accurately track work. The Assembler follows Standard Operating Procedures to operate equipment safely, inspects completed units to ensure they meet specifications and customer requirements, and supports additional projects and duties as needed.
Responsibilities
- Assemble products using hand and power tools to position, align, and fasten parts and units into assemblies, subassemblies, or frames.
- Install wire labels and device tags, working with different label and tag styles as required.
- Review and interpret job orders to understand build requirements and production priorities.
- Interact with the Epicor system by accurately badging in and out of active job orders on the production floor.
- Read, comprehend, and execute processes and procedures according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to safely and properly operate all required equipment and tools.
- Check and inspect completed units to ensure they meet specifications, tolerances, and customer requirements.
- Identify and verify wire gauges, colors, and ampacities during assembly and wiring tasks.
- Apply a basic understanding of schematics, mechanical assembly, and electrical assembly when building and wiring products.
- Use measuring tools, including a tape measure, to verify dimensions and ensure accuracy of assemblies.
- Perform visual inspections of components and subassemblies to confirm quality and conformance.
- Handle and assemble electrical components such as PLCs, VFDs, circuit breakers, and enclosures with appropriate NEMA ratings at a basic level.
- Follow plant directives and work instructions written in English to complete work assignments accurately and on time.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and solve assembly or production issues as they arise.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety and PPE requirements.
- Perform other projects and duties as assigned to support production and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions, work instructions, and plant directives in English.
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools, machines, and equipment used in assembly.
- Ability to visually inspect components, subassemblies, and completed units for quality and conformance.
- Capability to stand for long periods of time during the shift.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an intermittent basis.
- Strong focus on accuracy and timeliness in completing work assignments.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to effectively use a tape measure and perform simple mathematics.
- Basic understanding of schematics, mechanical assembly, and electrical assembly.
- Limited understanding of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), and circuit breakers.
- Understanding of the differences between NEMA ratings of enclosures.
- Knowledge of identifying wire gauges, wire colors, and understanding ampacities.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend plant directives written in English.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating, troubleshooting, and problem-solving with coworkers.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
- Willingness and ability to adhere to all PPE requirements, including eye, hand, and foot protection.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with mechanical assembly and electrical assembly in a production or general production environment.
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and equipment.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.
- Experience with electrical assembly tasks such as wiring, soldering, and working with electrical components.
- Familiarity with using a variety of hand and power tools in an assembly setting.
- Experience with electronic assembly and basic electronics.
- Ability to use a tape measure accurately and verify dimensions during assembly.
- Experience with inspection of assembled units to ensure compliance with specifications and tolerances.
- Comfort working with ERP or production tracking systems such as Epicor.
- General labor or production experience that demonstrates reliability and strong work ethic.

Work Environment
The work environment is a clean, climate-controlled production facility designed to support safe and efficient assembly work. Team members spend much of their time standing, lifting, bending, and reaching while working at assembly stations. The role involves frequent use of hand and power tools, measuring devices such as tape measures, and production equipment for mechanical and electrical assembly. Employees interact with an ERP system (Epicor) to track job orders and production activities. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and includes, but is not limited to, eye protection, hand protection, and appropriate footwear to perform the job safely. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and teamwork, with clear Standard Operating Procedures guiding daily tasks.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
