Essential Job Duties : We are hiring a Facilities Enhancement Technician for the NC State Student Centers. You’ll be part of a team that fosters a clean and safe environment for students and guests of NC State University. In this fast paced, hands on role, you will use standard housekeeping equipment, tools and supplies to accomplish basic cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, and disinfecting.

This position requires a high degree of flexibility to respond to and coordinate with the needs of clients, occupants, and requests. Communication with the team, others and supervisor is critical for success.

This role requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift a minimum of 60 lbs frequently and 90 lbs occasionally, stand for long periods of time, walking, bending, twisting, pulling and pushing (all with or without reasonable accommodations).

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Report discrepancies found within the assigned building in addition to responding to emergencies and inclement weather.
• Inventory of assigned area.
• Move and reset furniture.
• Perform proper routine maintenance on all equipment.
• Mandatory status during adverse weather (and other emergency) conditions to participate in snow/ice removal under the direction of a supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned to ensure NC State Student Centers business needs are met.
• Communicate effectively with customers, general public, supervisors, and peers.

Hiring for 2 positions for the following hours:

• Tuesday – Saturday 4 am to 12:30 pm (7 am-3:30 pm on Saturdays). Off Sun and Mon.
• Wednesday – Sunday 8:30 am-5:00 pm (7 am-3:30 pm on weekends). Off Mon and Tues.

Ability to adjust schedule if needed to meet the business needs of the department. Work schedule may include nights, weekends and holidays. May be required to work some overtime.

Other Responsibilities:

• Model the Division’s mission and values and foster a positive, cohesive workplace and congeniality among co-workers.
• Understand the goals and culture of the organization, and understand how employees’ work activities, teamwork, and customer service impact clients. Work with your supervisor and colleagues to understand these goals and the culture.
• Adhere to all University policies, procedures, and regulations, and Division standard operating practices and protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned based on needs of the business.

Minimum Experience/Education:

• Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Special certification may be required for some of these positions.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience performing housekeeping duties in a university or commercial environment.
