Oncology RN Job Details

• Location: Asheville, NC 28801 – Blue Ridge Mountains region
• Healthcare Setting: Oncology/Women’s Surgical Unit (K9A), 24 beds
• Employment Type: Travel Nurse / Locum Tenens
• Shift: 12-hour nights (6:45PM – 7:15AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 9/29/2025 – End: 12/29/2025)
• Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend days per schedule

Estimated Weekly Salary

• Estimated Weekly Pay Range: $1800 - $1840 per week

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or compact state
• BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care RN experience (oncology nursing experience preferred)
• Chemo Certification preferred for chemotherapy administration
• Strong teamwork, communication skills, and willingness to learn
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR (Electronic Medical Records)

Oncology Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, high-quality nursing care to oncology and women’s surgical patients
• Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions and responses to oncology treatments
• Administer medications, including chemotherapy (if certified)
• Assist with procedures such as pelvic exams, echocardiograms, and thoracentesis
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate patient records using Cerner EMR
• Float to other medical-surgical units as needed (rarely required)
• Adhere to hospital policies, dress code (navy, white, or combination), and unit guidelines
