Data Center Cable Technician

Job Description:

We are seeking multiple Cabling Installers to support infrastructure build-out inside a large data center project in Lenoir, NC. These roles focus on hands-on cabling and installation work within an active construction environment and are ideal for candidates with prior construction or warehouse experience who are dependable, safety-minded, and eager to learn. This position requires flexibility, strong attendance, and a positive attitude.

What You’ll Do:

You will work alongside lead technicians and supervisors to support the installation and organization of structured cabling systems throughout the facility. Responsibilities include:

• Pull, dress, and label copper cabling (Cat5e/Cat6) according to TIA/EIA standards.
• Assist with RJ45 connector and patch panel terminations under guidance.
• Label and identify cabling to ensure accurate documentation and organization.
• Learn and perform basic punch-downs for telecom blocks.
• Support cable testing using basic tools such as Fluke and EXFO under supervision.
• Gain exposure to fiber cable dressing and basic fiber handling techniques.
• Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Take direction from lead technicians and supervisors.
• Perform additional tasks as needed to support the project team.

Schedule:

• Monday–Saturday
• 1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM (10-hour days)
• Saturday: Typically 8-hour shifts
• Overtime and Saturday work may be required

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of the importance of attendance and reliability.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Prior labor experience required (construction, warehouse, or similar).
• Comfortable working in an active construction environment.
• Ability to lift, pull, and work on your feet for extended periods.
• Ability to wear all required PPE (steel-toe boots, hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses).

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Telecommunications experience.
• Structured cabling knowledge.
• Cable installation experience.
• Termination and punch-down experience.
• General construction experience.

Work Environment:

Work is performed inside a large data center under active construction. The environment is fast-paced and team-oriented, requiring physical activity including standing, lifting, climbing ladders, and overhead work. Safety and teamwork are critical to success.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lenoir, NC.

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Lenoir,NC.
