Recreation Manager
We are looking for a results-oriented candidate with excellent interpersonal and business skills for the position of Recreational Manager. Responsible for setting regional goals such as sales budgets and revenue projections, ensuring that marketing efforts are consistent across each activity, managing budgets, and ensuring operation and payroll within the budget, among other duties. Recreational activities and profit centers include hang gliding, kiteboarding, watersport/bike rentals, zipline, paragliding, camping, hiking tours and more.
RESPONSIBILITES
- Creating, monetizing, and executing recreation programs
- Recruiting, training, managing, coaching, developing, disciplining, and firing staff
- Ensuring operational efficiency, marketing efforts, budgets, and P&L management of each operation
- Ensuring that marketing efforts are consistent across each activity
- Setting recreational activity and profit center goals, such as sales estimates, revenue projections, and payroll budgets
- Ensuring that activities and materials adhere to company and industry safety standards and other regulations
- Managing a regional budget and ensuring that each activity operates with the budget
- Addressing operational problems that arise
- Liaising recreational activities with CEO and Executive Committee
- Ensuring that customer service levels and customer experience levels are consistent across activities
- Making recommendations to senior management for program improvements
- Supporting recreation managers and ensuring they meet their goals
- Developing capable and expert teams for each profit center
- Becoming certified in all recreation programs in order to provide cover in case of staff injury or illness
- Executing weekly huddles with managers, reviewing sales goals and activities, payroll goals and actuals, as well as ways to make improvements
- Responsible overall for all recreational equipment and maintenance
- Able to do basic repairs to and maintain equipment
- 5+ years in recreational program activities and management
- Seasonal business experience a plus
- Analytical mindset, problem-solving skills, quantitative aptitude, experience managing budgets
- Leadership and decision-making ability
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication
- Exceptional and proven selling skills
- Willing to work 50-60 hours per week during the season (six days per week) or whatever it takes to get the job done
