About the Role:

The Part-Time Bookkeeper will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for Muddy Sneakers operations. This 20-30 hour/week position is responsible for managing payroll, as well as day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded correctly and timely. The bookkeeper will support financial reporting and budgeting processes by organizing and reconciling accounts, preparing invoices, and tracking expenses. By maintaining precise financial data, the bookkeeper enables management to make informed decisions that support the organization's creative and operational goals. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can work independently and contribute to the financial health and transparency of the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar financial role.
  • Proficiency with ADP TotalSource payroll applications.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within the nonprofit sector.
  • Familiarity with payroll processing and tax regulations specific to the United States.
  • Certification such as Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or similar credentials.
  • Ability to use advanced Excel functions and financial analysis tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Record and categorize daily financial transactions including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments.
  • Manage payroll records and process bi-weekly payroll.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure all discrepancies are investigated and resolved promptly.
  • Prepare and send invoices to clients and follow up on outstanding payments.
  • Maintain accurate records of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and budgets.
  • Collaborate with management and external accountants to support audit and tax preparation processes.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and organizational policies.

Skills:

The required skills enable the bookkeeper to accurately record and manage financial data, ensuring all transactions are properly documented and reconciled. Proficiency with bookkeeping software allows for efficient processing of invoices, payments, and payroll, streamlining daily operations. Strong organizational and analytical skills help in preparing detailed financial reports and identifying discrepancies early. Preferred skills, such as industry-specific knowledge and advanced Excel capabilities, enhance the ability to tailor financial management to the unique needs of arts and entertainment organizations. Together, these skills support the bookkeeper in maintaining financial integrity and providing valuable insights to management.
