Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) with $7500 Bonus
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Position Location: Asheville, NC Job Type: Travel Contract Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3x12s Nights Pay: $2077.20/week Completion Bonus: Up to $7,500 total. (You will receive $2,500 after the successful completion of each of your first 3 contracts with us) Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and attentive Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) to care for patients requiring an intermediate level of monitoring and specialized care. Often referred to as Step-Down or Intermediate Care, the PCU nurse manages patients who are critically ill but stable, or those stepping down from the ICU. This role requires strong cardiac rhythm interpretation skills, proficiency in managing complex drips, and the ability to rapidly identify and respond to subtle changes in a patient's condition. The ideal candidate is an excellent critical thinker who provides comprehensive, compassionate care. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to patients requiring continuous cardiac and vital sign monitoring.
- Accurately interpret and respond to changes in telemetry rhythms.
- Administer medications, including titratable drips, and manage complex IV therapies.
- Manage patients with conditions such as acute heart failure, post-cardiac procedures, respiratory failure, and sepsis.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary team on patient treatment plans.
- Educate patients and families on their condition, recovery goals, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain meticulous and accurate documentation of all patient assessments and interventions.
- Active RN license in North Carolina.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent Progressive Care, Telemetry, or ICU nursing experience.
- Strong competency in EKG interpretation.
- COVID vaccine and recent TB test may be required.
