Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse to assume responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care. The nurse demonstrates ability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner with supervision. The nurse demonstrates critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of patient care. Consistently performs according to nursing standards and is accountable in managing patient care and assisting others in the management of patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
  • Performs focused interview to identify specific patients needs.
  • Assess signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient's condition.
  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets data and information from health care members and documents actual and/or potential nursing diagnoses.
  • Documents the patient's plan of care using identified nursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursing interventions.
  • Identifies and prioritizes actions based upon patient care requirements.
  • Monitors consistency between patient plan of care and actions of medical staff.
  • Performs interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standard.
  • Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patient environment.
  • Initiates and evaluates patient and/or family education.
  • Revises the plan of care according to evaluation, changes in medical plan of care, and effective/ineffective nursing interventions.
  • Documents patient's response to nursing and other interventions.
  • Uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs of an assigned unit/floor including establishing priorities.
  • Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment.
  • Participates in activities to facilitate good interpersonal communications with the chosen facility.
  • Supports professional practice by observing the following: Uses knowledge and practices in accordance with 1) the Nurse Practice Act; 2) Standards of Nursing Practice; 3) Standards of Patient Care; 4) The Joint Commission, state and local laws; 5) Patient's Bill of Rights; and 6) Amergis Healthcare Staffing, nursing and client hospital policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices.
  • Full command of the English language, both verbal and written.
  • Current Health Certificate (per facility contract or state regulation).
  • Current PPD or Chest X-Ray.
  • One year prior professional nursing experience preferred.
  • Current BLS card.
  • Successful completion of testing process.

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)The Medical-Surgical RN is a skilled and compassionate nursing professional responsible for delivering comprehensive care to adult patients with a wide range of medical conditions and surgical needs. This role requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The Med-Surg RN collaborates with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and support staff to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care.Essential Duties and Responsibilities• Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for adult patients with diverse medical and surgical diagnoses• Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical exams, and health histories• Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapies as prescribed• Monitor and document patient responses to interventions and changes in condition• Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and adjust individualized care plans• Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, procedures, and surgeries• Provide preoperative and postoperative care, including wound care, pain management, and mobility support• Educate patients and families on disease processes, medications, discharge instructions, and self-care• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)• Adhere to infection control, safety, and quality standards• Respond promptly to emergencies such as rapid deterioration, falls, or code situations• Support patient advocacy and uphold patient rights and confidentialityMinimum Requirements• Current Registered Nurse License in the state of practice• Minimum one year of professional nursing experience; Med-Surg experience preferred• Completion of Amergis' Competency Program (if applicable)• Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred)• TB screening and health clearance (as required by contract or regulation)• Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations• Successful completion of new hire orientation and Med-Surg training• Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations• Strong communication skills and proficiency in English• Basic computer literacy• Must be at least 18 years of ageBenefitsAt Amergis, we recognize that our nurses are the heart of our mission.
