Finance and Operations Manager

The NC Community School Coalition, Inc. (NCCSC) is a nonprofit organization guiding the statewide implementation of the NC Community Schools Framework to improve the academic, mental, and physical health of North Carolina students. NCCSC currently supports 23 public schools across 11 Local Education Agencies (LEAs) in becoming hubs of community pride and resources and, by July 2026, will expand to 53 schools across 28 LEAs. We partner with districts, schools, and communities to implement, evaluate, scale, and sustain this work.
Position Purpose
NCCSC seeks an Finance and Operations Manager to oversee the organization’s internal operations, including finance, human resources, contracts, project management, communications, and development operations. The role will also coordinate fundraising efforts, including staffing the Development Committee, managing grant applications, and overseeing grant reporting. The Finance and Operations Manager will ensure NCCSC has efficient, reliable systems to support its growing statewide work.
This is a full-time position with an ideal start date of January 5, 2026 .

Responsibilities
Finance & Accounting
- Manage day-to-day financial operations (accounts payable/receivable, payroll, expense tracking).
- Support budget development, monitoring, and reporting with external accountants.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting to funders and regulatory agencies.
- Maintain systems for grants management, compliance, and audits.
- Support the management and payment of programmatic funds in coordination with partners
Contracts & Compliance
- Draft, review, and manage contracts and agreements with partners and vendors.
- Track contract deliverables, timelines, and reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and grant regulations.
Human Resources
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, and personnel records.
- Maintain and update employee policies (leave, remote work, travel, performance).
- Serve as the point of contact for staff on HR matters.
Project Management & Operations
- Support preparation for and execution of public events and meetings, including annual NCCSC Leadership Summit.
- Develop and maintain systems to track deadlines and deliverables.
- Support scheduling and documentation of meetings, trainings, and convenings.
- Maintain organizational files, records, and technology systems.
- Partner with staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
Development & Grants
- Staff and coordinate the Development Committee to align board, staff, and fundraising priorities.
- Support grant prospecting, preparation, and submission with leadership.
- Track deadlines, proposals, awards, and reporting requirements.
- Strengthen development systems and ensure compliance with funder requirements.
Communications
- Support creation of newsletters, reports, presentations, and public-facing materials.
- Manage communication systems (mailing lists, contact databases).
- Track communication impact and reach.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in nonprofit operations, administration, or related fields.
- Knowledge of accounting practices and comfort with budgets/financial systems.
- Experience managing HR processes and policies.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree required (equivalent professional experience considered).
Compensation
Salary range: $82,000–$92,000 , commensurate with experience. Includes comprehensive benefits and professional development opportunities.
