Director of Retail Ecommerce

The Director of Retail Ecommerce is responsible for planning, implementing, and leading the profitable operation of Biltmore's Retail Ecommerce business in support of the company mission and goals. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to developing and implementing Retail Ecommerce strategies, including sales; site management, content, visuals, product positioning, promotions, etc.; providing the marketing plan, marketing strategy, and promotions calendar for communications execution by the Marketing and Communications teams; liaise with Corporate Technology to ensure that user experience is world-class; manage inventory levels to maximize profitability; foster guest engagement and loyalty through the Retail Ecommerce experience; oversee the guest experience including Fulfillment. Other duties include strategic plan and budget development; collaboration with internal cross-functional and stakeholder teams; and general assistance and support for the department, company, and leadership team.
Essential Job Duties
1. Leads digital strategy development, in partnership with Communications, to create an omni-channel guest experience. 2. Develops short- and long-term profitable growth plans and financial budgets. Manages all aspects of the P&L. 3. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to develop integrated Retail Ecommerce campaigns through all digital channels including search engine marketing, email, display advertising, and social media. 4. Partners with Marketing and Communications teams, providing business KPIs, promotional schedules, and marketing strategy for execution across Marketing and Communications departments. 5. Analyzes and assesses effectiveness of the website and user experience. Monitors established KPIs and actively updates plans to maximize traffic, conversion, and Average Order Value. 6. Partners with Beverage and Retail Merchandising teams to develop online merchandising plans to include: product life cycle, imagery, descriptions, content, promotion, and execution. 7. Leads logistics and develops long-term fulfillment plans, to include a superior delivery experience. 8. Partners with Ticketing & Reservations team to ensure exceptional guest service for all phone and email correspondence.
Independent Decision Making
1. Work collaboratively with partners in Marketing, Wine, Corporate Technology, and Retail to establish and execute strategy for Retail Ecommerce growth. 2. Establish profitable growth plans that will optimize and continuously enhance the digital guest experience. 3. Hold team accountable for brand aligned plan execution.
Qualifications
1. Two or four-year degree strongly preferred. Additional training, education, and/or certification(s) preferred. 2. At least seven (7) years of retail e-commerce experience. Equivalent combination of education/experience considered. Upscale on-line e-commerce experience preferred. 3. Solid foundation in business and product development; experience in developing marketing and sales plans strongly preferred. 4. Demonstrated commitment to delivery of world class internal/external guest service; proven leadership skills. 5. Proficiency in Word, Excel; ability to learn quickly Biltmore's systems, procedures, product/services. Prior experience with POS and/or inventory control systems preferred. 6. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; highly collaborative; able to convey information clearly, concisely, effectively at all levels; strong negotiation skills a plus. 7. Excellent planning, organizational, time/project management skills; keen attention to details; prioritizes/multi-tasks under deadline, can adapt; solid problem solver. 8. Proactive, exercises good judgment; anticipates/troubleshoots. 9. Professionally represents company; reflects company core values; high ethical standards; builds positive working relationships.
Physical Requirements
1. Some travel required; must have a valid driver's license. 2. Required to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
