Traveling Superintendent – Mission Critical
Location - Northern Virginia
We are looking for a Traveling Construction Superintendent to support construction management for the GBA Builders Mission Critical team. Project work would primarily be within the Midwest Region with occasional projects on either coast, so ideal candidate is willing to travel on a project-by-project basis. This superintendent will have the full support of the project manager while exercising autonomy in day-to-day operations. Successful candidate will be a team player who is self-motivated and willing to jump in and assist where needed, adding value by offering thoughtful solutions and project efficiencies.
Responsibilities:
- Provide coordination and supervision of design-build and bid-build projects in mission critical facilities such as telco switch buildings and data centers
- Collaboration with clients, design team and contractors for project success
- Build/maintain jobsite culture of “Safety First”
- Quality Control/Quality Assurance
- Daily coordination and management of subcontractors and jobsite logistics
- Collect, review and submit shop drawings, product data, test reports, etc.
- Build/update construction schedule and ‘look ahead’ schedules
- Review estimates with operations team to ensure logistical/site considerations are included
- Supervise and coordinate the execution of M.O.P.s (Method of Procedure) efforts
- Complete daily/weekly reports and maintain photo journal of progress
Requirements:
- Degree in construction management or equivalent work experience
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in construction field management/supervision.
- Experience in the construction of critical facility environments is preferred
- Partnership approach to working with contractors, designers and clients.
- MS Office Suite knowledge and excellent computer skills
- Proficient in MS Project Scheduling
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead a team
- Self-motivation with good time management skills
- Travel is required
