Application Developer

Accentuate Staffing is working with a well-established organization in the public education sector that is hiring an Application Developer to join their growing technology team. This organization supports programs that serve students and educational institutions across the state. They are seeking a developer to enhance and maintain core internal applications built on a classic .NET technology stack.

In this role, you will work with a collaborative team of IT professionals and business analysts to develop, test, and maintain web and database applications using SQL Server and front-end technologies. This role supports legacy and modern systems, and strong VB.NET proficiency is required for success. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience writing and maintaining applications in VB.NET, with additional familiarity in C#.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, test, document, and deploy web and database applications that drive core operations.
• Gather technical requirements from internal teams and translate them into scalable solutions.
• Monitor and maintain production systems, responding to issues and performance concerns.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software bugs and logical flaws in supported applications.
• Enhance user interfaces and automate manual processes using front-end and database technologies.
• Participate in initiatives to improve application performance, security, and scalability.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
• Hands-on development using VB.NET in a production environment
• Proficiency with C# and working knowledge of the classic .NET Framework
• Strong experience with SQL Server, stored procedures, and database-driven application development
• Experience with web technologies such as Bootstrap, CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX
• Familiarity with Agile and Scrum development methodologies
• Exposure to project management tools like JIRA and collaborative software development environments
