Position: Controller

Overview

A rapidly growing industrial services organization is seeking a Controller to lead accounting operations across multiple business units. This newly created role will support continued expansion through acquisition and play a key part in building out the finance function in Raleigh. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, ERP implementation experience, and a builder mindset to help scale systems, processes, and teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and ensure adherence to GAAP for all financial reporting
• Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Manage efficient month-end and year-end close processes
• Develop and maintain accounting SOPs and consolidation procedures
• Support senior management with high-level financial transactions and reporting
• Lead audit preparation and coordination with external auditors
• Oversee ERP implementation and ensure alignment with accounting processes
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and internal policies
• Support integration of newly acquired businesses into standardized accounting systems
• Oversee cash management and detailed intercompany consolidation
• Collaborate with other departments to align accounting with strategic goals
• Support financial forecasting and address ad-hoc initiatives

Qualifications

• 5 years of progressive finance experience in industrial or service-based sectors
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
• Experience with ERP systems such as Sage Intacct or NetSuite
• Background in M&A due diligence and integration, including purchase accounting
• Proven success in managing accounting operations across distributed entities
• Strong focus on accuracy, timeliness, and continuous improvement
• High emotional intelligence and collaborative leadership style
• Ability to travel 1–2 times per month to operating company sites
