Lead Estimator/Production Coordinator
Job Summary: This individual supports both the repair planning and production workflow of a collision repair facility. The role involves accurately assessing vehicle damage, preparing detailed repair estimates, sourcing parts, coordinating with insurance companies, and assisting in tracking the production schedule to help ensure timely and high-quality repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimating:
- Inspect vehicles to assess and document the severity of mechanical, structural, and/or cosmetic damage with detailed notes and supporting photographs
- Prepare and/or audit accurate repair cost estimates within the same business day, using estimation software(s), covering labor, parts, and materials needed to complete all necessary repairs according to industry standard P Pages.
- Explore further avenues or repair estimates in efforts to increase ARO
- Collaborate with the disassembly team to ensure accurate documentation of vehicle damage, including capturing detailed photographs and providing supporting notes when applicable.
Part Sourcing:
- Research parts for all estimates and coordinate purchase orders
- Assist with obtaining supplies/materials needed from third party sources
Customer Service:
- Consult with insurance companies/adjustors to seek estimate approval, change request negotiations, etc
- Ensure all customer complaints are addressed and reviewed upon vehicle drop off, including but not limited to all intake vehicle intake documentation
Production/Leadership:
- Exemplify positive, company aligned, demeanor in all professional interactions
- Ensure optimal department efficiency by maintaining a up to date production schedule with clear deadline expectations
- Conduct morning meetings to set daily team expectations aiming to exceed customer expectations and offer optimal department productivity.
- Ensure workspace is clean and organized
- Monitor quality control throughout repair and at completion
- Strive to meet or exceed departmental goals with estimated capture rates, sales per month, profitability margins, repair cycle times, etc
- Continue education through ATI courses or other available training opportunities
Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in automotive repair, estimating, or related fields are preferred.
- Experience: 2-5 years of experience in automotive repair, collision estimation, or a similar field.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with estimation software (e.g., Mitchell, Audatex, or CCC One), knowledge of vehicle systems, repair procedures, and parts.
- Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate clearly with customers, repair shops, and insurance companies.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to assess damages accurately and provide precise repair estimates.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills to identify repair needs and find cost-effective solutions.
