Retail Services Manager

Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden is a nationally distinguished public garden known for its vibrant and eclectic collection of plants and elegant seasonal displays. The Garden includes over 14 acres of outdoor display beds, including formal gardens, perennial gardens, and annual display beds. The Retail Services Manager is an integral member of the retail and finance teams and is primarily responsible for the complete oversight and management of retail operations for the Garden. The Retail Services Manager will ensure that products and services offered through the Garden Store, Trailhead Store, and bars are current and relevant to the Garden experience and meets the needs of our guests, while ultimately providing a source of revenue for the Garden. An ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, superb attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, management and motivational skills and represent the organization in the highest form. Responsibilities: - Understands the importance of each guest to the Garden and drives excellence to ensure an optimal experience in every way.
- Provides supervision and oversight to the retail teams, scheduling, leading group projects, department initiatives, daily production management, motivating and leading and performance assessment and evaluations.
- Develops, maintains, and leads a standard of excellence throughout the retail spaces, representing the highest quality of product and customer service.
- Provides oversight, support, decisions and solutions on requests or conflicts that arise in guest relations.
- Builds, and maintains independent vendor and supplier relationships to source, design, and order suitable and preferred products.
- Develops and drives appropriate stock buying strategies, marketing campaigns and sales promotions to drive high foot-traffic leading to an increase in sales revenue.
- Coordinates departmental promotion and advertising activities, to include sales promotion, public relations, visual merchandising, and/or special marketing events, as appropriate.
- Provides input and leadership on the development of new products and offerings, that have potential for improved guest service and revenue potential.
- Creates, manages, and maintains the year-end inventory processes.
- Collaborates with internal team members to fully understand guest opportunities and product offerings to ultimately maximize the guest experience.
- Assists with the development of budgets and other spending models, insuring inventory management, product popularity, and appropriate spending on products and offerings.
- Develops, tracks, and maintains consistent reporting to measure and report monthly and annual revenue and sales goals.
- Manages and maintains the preferred information systems for scheduling, tracking and revenue reporting.
- Supports all Garden programs and events.
- Serves as the manager on duty as needed, representing the Garden, and serving as the point person to oversee general operations, opening, and closing, and making general decisions on behalf of the Garden as necessary.
- Exemplifies the Garden Mission Statement and supports staff, departments and leadership in pursuing and achieving goals.
- Performs any other duties needed to help drive to our vision, fulfill our mission, and abide by our values.

- Ability to make financial assessments regarding sales, goals, etc.
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, change oriented environment.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; database management experience preferred.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends to meet Garden's needs.

Experience & Education - Minimum of a high school diploma, bachelor's degree preferred in relevant field of study.
- Minimum of 3 years in customer service or sales.
- Retail management experience required to include scheduling and staffing, merchandising, cash management, inventory control, vendor relationships, and budget creation and adherence.
