CVICU RN Job Details

• Location: Greensboro, NC 27401 (North Carolina healthcare jobs)
• Facility: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Position Type: Locum tenens, travel nursing contract
• Start Date: September 23, 2025
• End Date: December 23, 2025
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (7:00pm – 7:30am)
• Weekend Requirement: 6 weekends (both Sat/Sun) during contract
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1820–$1870
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
• Charting System: Epic EMR

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license – North Carolina or compact state
• Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU or ICU nursing experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
• Proficiency with Epic charting system
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Experience with patient ratios of 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3
• Ability to pass EKG exam during compliance (2 attempts allowed)
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Willingness to float between Cone Health campuses as needed

CVICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver expert care to medical/surgical cardiac ICU patients, including MI, CHF, post-cardiac surgery, LVAD, Impella, IABP, ECMO, and more
• Manage advanced cardiac procedures and equipment: Swan Ganz monitoring, CVVHA/CRRT, arterial line management, ventilator management, and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Assist with chest tube insertion/removal, BiPAP/CPAP management, and high-flow nasal cannula
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, ABGs, and multi-system organ failure
• Administer blood products, sedation, and IV insulin protocols
• Care for patients post-cardiac cath intervention, TAVI/TAVR, and vascular surgeries
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and more
• Float to other units or campuses as required
• Maintain compliance with all hospital policies and procedures
