Controls Engineer
Full time-Direct hire, Charlotte, NC- Local client is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer. Candidate must have prior Automation/PLC programming experience from within a manufacturing setting. Candidates with intergration experience is highly encouraged to apply.Asso. Degree is preferred. education: Associates responsibilities:
- Make programming changes to automated equipment to improve uptime, improve recovery, reduce scrap, and increase throughput.
- Maintains and improves existing equipment.
- Manages equipment upgrades, new installations, and product changes that impact equipment.
- Manages outside contractors.
- Works well with production supervisors, engineers and technicians responsible for supporting all departments.
- Use AutoCAD Electrical to create/update electrical diagrams.
- Select controls components based on design criteria and generate a bill of materials.
- Program using RS Logix 500, RS Logix 5000, Studio 5000 and Factory Talk View Studio.
- Create or update programs for Fanuc and other robot brands.
- Perform machine power up, debug and programming.
- Troubleshoot electrical wiring and process related issues.
- Meet project budgets and timeline milestones.
- Evaluate machine process problems, determine root cause and execute corrective action plans.
- Troubleshoot robot controllers, ladder logic, electrical control devices, mechanical units, transfer devices and peripheral equipment (such as pneumatics).
