Interim Director of Procurement Project Management

Talascend is currently seeking a Interim Director of Procurement Project Management for a contract opportunity with our client in Charlotte, North Carolina .

Overview

You will play a critical role in supporting procurement functions during a period of organizational transition, including company splits. You will be embedded within the Digital Procurement team, managing high-impact projects that enhance sourcing, procurement, AI, and supply chain processes across business units.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple procurement and AI-related projects from initiation to completion.
• Coordinate across substreams including Ariba deployment, Ivalua enhancements, training development, and communications.
• Serve as the first line of defense for escalations, providing regular updates and readouts to leadership.
• Consolidate and report weekly project statuses across all substreams.
• Build and deliver executive-level reports and presentations.
• Distill complex issues into actionable steps and communicate them effectively to stakeholders.
• Work closely with procurement, IT, and functional leaders to ensure consistent deployment of digital procurement solutions.
• Support external IT partners and vendors to ensure alignment with implementation standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or advanced degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in procurement and project management.

Requirements

• Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects without direct authority.
• Strong understanding of procurement strategies, sourcing, and supplier management.
• Proficiency in financial and budget management.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with software implementation methodologies and process mapping.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to simplify complex problems into clear, actionable plans.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across diverse teams.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience with digital procurement platforms (Ivalua, SAP/Ariba).
• Background in supply chain systems and sourcing processes (strategic sourcing, contract management, logistics).
• Experience developing training materials and process documentation.
